Every product is thoughtfully designed and many showcase a hymn’s words–from classics like “Amazing Grace” to the more modern “In Christ Alone. Little Things Studio sells tea towels, magnets, calendars, prints, notepads, greeting cards, and bookmarks. Over the years, she has expanded it into a successful woman-owned small business with a focus on the rich lyrics of hymns and the beauty of nature. Kate began selling art prints in 2010 at area craft shows, and the idea of Little Things Studio was born. This shift in life put color back into Kate’s world–and lots of it!
Though she hadn’t taken an art class since grade school, Kate blossomed at Mississippi State University and in the creative world, culling a deep love for color and design. Kate Whitley, founder of Little Things Studio, was working in the corporate banking world when she decided to pivot and head back to school–this time for graphic design. Per the school, the four-year program engages contemporary theory and practice in students’ chosen media. Mississippi-born and Nashville-based artist Kate Whitley weaves word and image with lush floral designs, vibrant and vintage color schemes and lovely hand-lettering of hymns, songs and quotes. The College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Arts offers one program for aspiring graphic designersa BFA in Studio with a Concentration in Graphic Design.
